MHT01 - Mental Health Awareness training:
A general course that details all psychiatric illness, cognitive illness (dementias), personality disorder and substance misuse problems. This event covers all topics and provides delegates with a comprehensive understanding of issues, hazards, difficulties and where to go for support. This course is extremely well evaluated and suitable to all public-facing individuals that might confront abnormal behaviour in the course of their work.
This mental health awareness training is designed for anyone working in a customer facing environment. This course will give them the confidence they need to interact sensitively and effectively when they inevitably come into contact with someone with a mental health problem.
What topics will we cover?
Study of Axis 1 and Axis 11 personality disorders, organic / cognitive illness and other key issues.By the end of this course you should be able to understand issues surrounding:
- Major Depression,
- Psychosis
- Bipolar Disorder;
- Schizophrenia;
- Anxiety Disorders;
- Antisocial Personality Disorder
- Borderline Personality Disorder
- Self Injurious Behaviour and suicidality;
- Dementias
- Substance Misuse;
- Supported by video examples of symptoms and behaviours
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
The course will be taught using the aid video media and case studies. It will also include discussions and groupwork. At the end of the course delegates work in groups to diagnose a set of clinical vignettes.
